How much are university tuition fees in London?
Tuition fees can vary significantly depending on your chosen university, course and level of study (postgraduate or undergraduate), as well as your home country.

- Classroom-based courses: primarily taught in a classroom, tuition fees for these courses range from approximately £10,000 to £16,000 per year.
- Laboratory-based courses: taught in classrooms and laboratories, tuition fees for these courses range from £12,000 to £26,000 per year.
- Clinically based courses: taught in classrooms, laboratories and clinical settings such as hospitals, tuition fees for these courses range from £30,000 to £37,000 per year.

Postgraduate tuition fees
Tuition fees for postgraduate courses vary across universities and subjects. Postgraduate degrees can be split into two major categories: postgraduate taught courses and postgraduate research courses.
Postgraduate taught courses
This usually refers to one-year masters courses, although some courses are two or three years long. Postgraduate taught courses are focused around lectures and seminars, with a research project at the end of the programme. They are split between three main categories:
- Classroom-based courses: primarily taught in a classroom, tuition fees for these courses range from approximately £8,000 to £29,000.
- Laboratory-based courses: taking place in classrooms and laboratories, the tuition fees for these courses range from £11,500 to £35,250.
- Clinically based courses: the teaching takes place in classrooms, laboratories and clinical settings such as hospitals. Tuition fees for these courses range from £11,400 to £39,000.

Postgraduate research courses
This usually refers to doctorate degree (MPhil/PhD) courses, which are primarily based around one research project. Students may have access to lectures and seminars, but they will be assessed on the research project only. PhD courses usually take three to four years to complete.
